We are a family of 4 who are home most of the time as Dad works from home and Mum is currently homeschooling our 11- and 14-year-old children (long story!)
We are an animal loving family who have a cat, dog and fish we inherited not so long ago!
We have never left our dog before so we are all a bit sad as we normally take her with us on holiday, but this is the first time in 6 years we are going overseas so we need to find someone who intends to be staying at the house for the majority of the time as she is so used to at least one person nearly always being at home.
Our home is an older quirky single story home and we are fortunate to live at the top of a very quiet cul-de-sac in South Karrinyup (Scarborough side)
We have 3 bedrooms and an office. You will be sleeping in the master bedroom which has an ensuite and over looks our deck and pool.
We have reverse ducted air conditioning throughout as well as a ceiling fan in the main bedroom too.
About her furry friends -
We have 1 female cat named Molly who followed us home when she was just under a year old and is still with us as a 17 year old!!
To this day she still eats every meal as it's her last as the memory of living life on the streets hasn't left her!
Molly enjoys a snuggle and is quite a character, she is pretty much indoors most of the time, however she likes an adventure outside, but never ventures too far.
Her personality has changed since our first cat Matilda passed away a few months ago at the age of almost 21. Matilda was the queen of the house who we also rescued, but as a tiny kitten who was too small to take home so we had to wait until she was strong enough to bring home so she never knew she had been 'rescued'.
Matilda was our first 'child' and was not thrilled with the additions to our home over the years (including the kids!) and definitely ruled the roost.
Now that Matilda is no longer with us Molly has finally come out of her shell and is not as nervous as she once was.
As mentioned earlier we also have a female dog named Lucky who we rescued 6 years ago after she was found abandoned with her 8 puppies in bushland near Fremantle, she was found to only be 12 months old herself and she wasn't expected to survive (the vet named her Lucky) as she was so malnourished, however a beautiful soul who volunteers at the Shenton Park Dog Shelter took Lucky and her runt to her home and built her back up over 10 weeks and WE were the lucky family to grab her. According to the Dog Home Lucky is a mixed breed of Staffy, Ridgeback and Beagle!!
She like Molly lives through her stomach (Beagle bit doesn't help) but like Molly she gives us so much joy and has even turned out to be our therapy dog too.
Lucky is walked once a day in the morning and enjoys the odd visit to the beach, although she only splashes around and can get overwhelmed if it's one of those busy days with lots of dogs everywhere.
Now to the fish tank, we inherited this tank 6 months ago from a desperate friend who wanted it gone that day as she was tired of cleaning the tank when it was supposed to be her son's job, when she threatened to flush them down the toilet, I grabbed them, even though I know nothing about fish as I am a true animal lover and couldn't let that happen!!
We currently have 3 tetras, 3 Barbs, 1 Bristle nose Pleco, 3 Corydoras and 'Tony' who looks like a tiny eel but isn't!
I have gotten used to them now and although we are still new at taking care of them, we have all learnt so much!!
You will only need to feed them as their tank will be cleaned the day we leave and we will clean it the day we get back.
Back to our home -
We are a 10–12-minute walk to Karrinyup Shopping Centre.
20-minute walk to the beach
10-minute drive to the Freeway
That's about it!!
