We are looking for someone reliable and trustworthy who can help firstly from July 14th-22nd. Our boy is a 2.5year old 35kg Blue Heeler x Kelpie. Ideally we could have someone come and stay at our home in Rye with him and spend most of their time at home keeping him company as he is use to us being home a lot. He does need 2 walks a day (30 mins or so) or at least one walk and some play/training/stimulation as he is a working dog. He also has a best mate (A kelpie) who lives around the corner and regularly pops in for a play. Our boy is a big goofball who loves ALL people. He sleeps in bed with us, sits on the couch, cuddles and kisses and basically thinks he’s a person. Unfortunately though, he is dog reactive because he had an incident when he was a pup. As a result, he is friendly with dogs he has known prior to the incident but not good with new dogs. We tend to walk at off peak times, avoid crowded walkways, dog parks etc to help with this. He does walk nicely on the lead with a halti but if he sees another dog that he doesn’t know he can lunge and bark. Being 35kg he is strong so the person needs to be vigilant and prepared and of course I will run through our methods of dealing with this.
