Our home is a modest 2 bedroom, lowest brick house in a leafy suburb approximately 25 min drive from Brisbane CBD.
There is public transport close by, however you will need to allow time to get places depending on where you want to go - buses are a 5 or 15min walk away (located on Lochwood Ave and Forest Lake Boulevard). Richlands Train Station is about a 6 min drive away (50mim walk). Check Brisbane’s Journey Planner for trip times and to plan a journey.
We are a 1min walk from the Forest Lake lake, which has a 1.8 approximate walking route around its perimeter. There is a shopping complex about 5min drive away (20min wall), which includes Woolworths, coles, Kmart, Aldi, sushi, Gong Cha bubble tea, newsagent, butcher, bakery, best and less, chemist, newsagent, cafes and takeaway style restaurants, and Forest Lake Tavern.
The only requirement for a house sitting is to provide medicine to our beautiful cat Kizmit each morning and evening, feed her, keep her litter tray reasonable and ensure she is locked inside at night time.
Honestly, this is all really easy as Kiz is a 17 year old cat who is gentle by nature, compliant with medication administration and only goes outside for some of her toilet business or a quick feel of the grass. Kizmit can take a day to warm up to new people and may hide for a bit, however she seems to be getting better with this as she gets older.
As long as the house is kept in reasonable condition. She gets wet food at night and treats in the morning she loves people being around, but is used to no one in the house during the day, and sometimes coming home late as I work shift work.
There is a spare bedroom and also a master bedroom. You are welcome to use either, or both if you need two beds!
There is a small yard, however no upkeep is required. The house gets lots of natural light due to the design, with a cute internal courtyard which is lovely to sit in for coffee/brunch/meals, and also let’s light into the living areas and master bedroom.
The house has both showers and baths, ensuite, second external toilet, laundry, study room, streaming services (Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+), as well as normal free-to-air TV, fully equipped kitchen, comfortable lounge and dining area. There is a garage for parking your car, however it is quite small and narrow, not sure how you’d go getting a big SUV or Ute in there! Otherwise parking available ok the driveway or street outside.
The location is a quiet residential circuit street, so the only traffic is local traffic. Happy to answer any questions you may have about anything!
