Hello!
We are looking for a house sitter in May 2025 to care for our two pets and to look after our house.
We haven’t confirmed our dates yet and can work around the house sitter at this stage.
Here is some information on the house sitting job. I will give as much information as possible to
manage expectations and to find a well-suited match. We want to ensure that the house sitter has a great experience and we also want to have peace of mind during our first overseas family trip.
House - We live in a 3-bedroom
house with an enclosed garden in a quiet, suburban street. We need the house sitter to bring mail in, take bins out each week and maintain our garden as well as our indoor plants. We have a home office which can be used by the house sitter. The other two rooms
are our bedroom our son's bedroom. We have one ensuite and a second bathroom including a bath. We also have ducted heating and cooling.
We live close to the Gungahlin Town Center, either a 5 mins drive or 20mins walk. We are also close to the tram with a 15mins walk. We have some beautiful ponds in walking distance too.
Pets - we have two pets, one cat called Oslo and one dog called Gnocchi.
Our cat Oslo is 5 years old and very easygoing. He keeps to himself and if he wants some attention, he will make it known. He is an indoor cat and is not allowed outside. Oslo will need to be fed every night and given his medication for urinary issues. He also needs his litter cleaned daily and his water freshened up daily. It is very important to keep his litter clean and his water fresh as he had a couple of blockages that required hospitalisations. Therefore it is also important to monitor his urine output and ensure he urinates every day.
Our dog Gnocchi is a 3-year-old Schnoodle. He is full of energy and craves lots of interaction with his humans. He has some anxious tendencies and doesn’t like being left alone (eg at the shops, cafes etc.). This will be the first time Gnocchi will be away from his family, so he needs a career that is patient, loving and reassuring. Gnocchi is an indoor dog and needs to be walked daily for at least 20 minutes. He needs to be fed in the morning and the evening. If possible the house sitter can also batch cook his food, which would be 3-4 times while we are away. Gnocchi is good with other dogs but as he’s very energetic, he can sometimes overwhelm other pups that are shy or old. He likes humans but does feel unsure about children and sometimes also new adults. As Gnocchi is an indoor dog, he can’t be left alone for more than 5 hrs at a time. He loves going on walks and tends to pull a bit when out.
We do not ever hit, shame or yell at our pets. The house sitter needs to be gentle and caring and use positive training methods. Any abusive behavior towards our pets will be reported.
The house sitter - we are looking for a house sitter who aligns with the above requirements. Ideally, the house sitter is a clean, reliable and caring individual, that will spoil our pets while we’re away. They need to be retired or working from
home and not be traveling during the period of the house sit or go on long day outings due to our dog not being able to be home alone for more than 5 hours. As we live in a quiet, suburban home, we can’t have any parties or loud gatherings. You are welcome to have friends over but we do ask that your friends respect our home, our pets and our privacy. This house sit would suit someone who likes to spend time at home, go for walks and loves the company of pets.
All house sitters need to have a WVVP card and references from previous house sits.
We look forward to receiving your application.
