We are looking for a house sitter to stay in our house and care for our dog at home for 6 weeks while we travel to Europe. He is a 13 year old Hungarian Viszla named Red and he has been used to having company most of the day, as we have both worked from home all his life. He has had sitters for similar 6-week periods on multiple occasions (pre-Covid). He is relatively easy to care for; we have a small enclosed garden that he patrols, he has a mat outside the back door, a bed in the living room and another mat in the study, and he alternates between these locations. His normal exercise is a walk around the local block in the evening after dark (normally allowed off-lead). If he is on-lead, then we suggest two walks might be needed, morning and evening.

Red can be left alone for a few hours inside the house, he will wait in his bed. If necessary, he can be left occasionally for a full day, if the next-door neighbour is available to come in and let him out a few times to access the garden. Red is also happy to travel in a car, he loves the beach or the bush for a run. He is well-trained but going deaf, he come in answer to a whistle.
