House sit BUFFALO RIVER

Buffalo River offers a rhythm dictated by the Ovens Valley landscape, where mornings often begin with birdsong and a crisp, clean air. Daily dog walks along quiet country lanes, past grapevines and established farms, provide ample scent-tracking opportunities for an energetic companion. These routes are mostly unpaved, so sturdy footwear is advisable for both you and your charge, connecting you directly to the agricultural heart of the region. Provisions for the home are found in nearby Myrtleford, a short drive offering a supermarket and local bakeries. Keep an eye out for seasonal roadside stalls selling fresh produce from the area's orchards and farms, ideal for supplementing your pantry with genuine local flavour. The pace here is unhurried; expect friendly nods from passing neighbours and shopkeepers who value a genuine conversation over quick transactions. Weekends invite deeper exploration of the High Country. Numerous walking tracks around Mount Buffalo National Park are a short drive away, ranging from gentle strolls to more challenging ascents with expansive views – always check trail conditions. For a different rhythm, a quiet afternoon by the Buffalo River itself offers a calming spot, often enjoyed by local pets and their owners on warmer days. Integrating into these daily and weekend patterns ensures both you and any pets settle comfortably into the valley's quiet beauty.
