All we would like you to do is house sit and care for our energetic dog and water our pot plants.
Our home is located in East Palmerston, about 1.5 hours south of Cairns, in the stunning Cassowary Coast region. We're situated on 10 acres, approximately 20 minutes west of Innisfail, in a beautiful rural area surrounded by cattle, banana, and sugar cane farms.
Innisfail may be small, but it has everything you need. The town offers both Coles and Woolworths for your shopping convenience, along with a variety of restaurants including Italian, Chinese, and Indian, as well as fast food options like Domino's, Subway, McDonald's, Hungry Jack's, and KFC. For a more local experience, there are several charming, locally-owned cafes to enjoy.
For fresh produce, the local butchers source quality, locally-raised meat, and you can find fresh seafood at the Seafood Depot and Claudia’s Seafood, or Brenda selling fresh fruit and vegetables near Bamboo Creek opposite the cemetery. If you're into fishing, head to BCF for supplies and join the locals down at the wharf for a peaceful day by the water.
This region is perfect for nature lovers and adventurers. Local attractions include the breathtaking Mamu Tropical Skywalk, the historic Paronella Park, and numerous bushwalks and safe swimming spots in Wooroonooran National Park. You’ll also be within reach of pristine beaches like Mission Beach and Etty Bay.
You can also enjoy the Cardwell Spa Pool, go skydiving over Mission Beach. Don't forget to spot a cassowary in its natural habitat, enjoy the beaches of Kurrimine Beach and Etty Bay, and perhaps even enjoy Charley's Chocolate Factory.
For a scenic day trip, head to the Atherton Tablelands, where you can explore the famous waterfall circuit, visit the impressive Curtain Fig Tree near Yungaburra, and take a dip in the crater lakes—Lake Eacham and Lake Barrine. Don’t miss the dramatic Mount Hypipamee Crater and Millaa Millaa lookout. Enjoy a relaxed brunch at Mungalli Creek Dairy or indulge in a delicious lunch at Gallo Dairyland. You can also step back in time at the Herberton Historic Village and learn about the region’s rich tin mining history.
