Hi there!
Thanks for taking the time to look at our assignment!
We are potentially going to Europe for our long overdue honeymoon and to see relatives. Ideally, we are looking for a trustworthy, reliable couple or a retired couple who are animal lovers with experience owning a dog, committed to looking after our 4-year-old Border Collie Cross. Our dog is incredibly gentle, calm and very good natured. He sleeps inside at night and rests a lot during the day. He loves to sleep/follow us around the house or in the yard. So the sitters would need to be used to a dog's clinginess and being woken up some nights for bathroom breaks.
He would need to be taken outside in the yard regularly for toilet breaks, as well as morning and evening walks/trips to the dog park. He also loves car rides and behaves himself at cafes/dog friendly areas. It is important that he is given plenty of playtime, attention, including daily feeding. Also, ensuring he has fresh water daily in all water bowls provided.
Sadly, our dog has been diagnosed with Canine Epilepsy. He does need to be given anti-seizure medication twice daily (7am and 7pm). Should he have a seizure while we are away, more medication and close monitoring is required for at least 24 hours to 3 days after the event by the sitters. This information will all be explained to the potential sitters in due course.
Ideally the sitters should be home more often than not (or one person home while the other is out) and not be left alone for hours. He may or may not have any episodes during our time away as it occurs randomly.
Our dog means the world to us and it would put our mind at ease knowing the sitters are looking after him well in his home environment.
We have a ground level/ low set house with a small yard and pool in a quiet, leafy neighbourhood. Some garden and pool maintenance is required. These include regular emptying of the skimmer box, removing any frogs in the pool, watering some plants and mowing the lawn (if required). Other house-sitting requirements are taking the bins out on Sundays, checking mail weekdays and keeping the house clean and tidy (our dog loses a lot of fur).
Please contact us for more information. We would very much like to meet suitable sitters in person (to make sure our dog is compatible).
Thanks very much. Look forward to hearing from you.
