My husband and I FIFO, and I have to return to work early before he comes home this one week.
We have 4 pets - 2 dogs and 2 cats. All are rescues and do enjoy people. Our house is a 3 x 2 located in Armadale
The dogs are a chihuahua cross (Nipper - 13yrs) and a Kelpie cross (Ebony - 3yrs). Ebony will need to be walked at least every second day or she gets a little rough to handle in the house. Nipper is happy to come, but cannot walk long distances. Dog parks are fine, though neither are particularly easy around other dogs. No aggression from Ebony, she is quite submissive. Nipper barks and growls but never gets too close. Ebony prefers to run after her tennis balls, and Nipper will ease up when he gets told off. He does like to sneak off so just keep an eye out.
Our cats are easy. Bindi (16yrs) and Iris (5yrs) are both tortoiseshell short hair cats. Indoor, though do try to sneak out the back with the dogs. No big issue if it happens in the day, they just have to get locked in at night.
The dogs will sleep wherever you let them (including the bed) and the cats are either in our wardrobe or on the couch. Antisocial as typical for felines, but not aggressive.
We do not leave the dogs outside when out of the house due to some unrest with neighbours. It is best if dogs are not left alone in the home longer than 6 to 7 hours.
A sitter who is confident around both cats and dogs, and will enjoy the company of our animals is an important factor in our choice.
