Requirements

We need someone (single or couple) to come to the beautiful Upper Yarra Valley to mind our elderly MinPin Sigi (16 y.o.) for 2 months (September and October 2025) while we are in Switzerland. Sigi recently lost his little MinPin companion Sophie and has been a bit clingy since, following us round and checking periodically to make sure we're still there. Normally the two dogs were minded in her own house by our sitter Annie, but she's going away too. I hate the thought of leaving him in a cage all by himself in a strange boarding kennel. Had Sophie still been alive, the two of them would have been OK together, but I fear he'll be very lonely all by himself. A house sitter or a couple in his own surroundings seems like the best solution. Sigi is basically ageing very well. He has limited vision because of cataracts and is hard of hearing, and occasionally limps a bit from arthritis. Notwithstanding that, he is still very lively and runs and jumps around in typical MinPin fashion. The major item in his care is that he is on "Vetmedin" twice daily for an enlarged heart. You'll have no trouble dosing him: he thinks the tablets are delicious. He needs a short walk every day, weather permitting. There are plenty of pleasant places nearby. I will organize his food into daily packages so that all that you'd need to do would be to thaw one each day. We live in Yarra Junction, about 60 km east of Melbourne. The house was renovated a few years ago to meet the needs of an ageing couple (that's us!) and is comfortable and easy to maintain. We have all the usual mod cons. If you need to work from home, my study/WiFi would be available. We have a 1-acre garden and a gardener - Tarnya - who comes for 3 hours every fortnight. We grow many of our own veggies and will be sorry to miss the harvest of some of them while we're away....that's for you to enjoy! For your own pleasure, we can offer you proximity to the Yarra Ranges National Park, beautiful scenery, lots of hiking and biking trails, nice neighbours, a lovely quiet street, access to public transport or a spot for your own car in our garage, some good pubs and wineries and an excellent patisserie. I do hope you can help us.
