Taking care of my 11-year-old Shih Tzu cross Tibetan Spaniel/Pomeranian boy that involves a few simple yet essential tasks that keep him happy and healthy. Ensuring he has fresh water and food daily, taking him on regular walks and providing lots of love and attention are key. He knows his routine and it keeps him content. For quite a few years, it's just been him and me, so he's used to a quite home, often retreating to a hiding spot if there's too much commotion.
Additionally, watering a few plants around the house which really are just once a week, collect the mail and pretty much keep the house clean. I have a lady who walks my little fella twice a week and a house cleaner every fortnight, and happy to keep them both in place, although over the Christmas / new year period it's likely they won't be available.
Living in a gated community provides security and nice breezes. My modern townhome has ducted air conditioning ensuring a comfortable environment for both of you.
