The property is off grid and has 12V lighting and 240V power via batteries and inverter. Heating and cooking are by a Rayburn wood stove. We have built the house ourselves on the site of the original 1860's stone homestead, incorporating some of the remaining stone walls. The original house was orientated to the North with sea views to Rapid Bay. The house is 500m off the Sealed Rapid Bay Road down an all weather track. We have lived here for 25 years and find it very peaceful and comfortable, with loads of birds and kangaroos. It has a composting toilet on the verandah. So as not to 'guild the lily' we describe the house and settings as clean, basic and rustic.
